Fellowship for Restoration ecologies and Cultures

TRAINING LEADERS FOR THE GREEN WORK FORCE
The Fellowship for Restoration Ecologies and Cultures (FREC or REC) prepares undergraduate students at the University of Vermont for careers in the restoration of degraded ecosystems. FREC’s mission is to train students in the ecological and social spheres of restoration work, emphasizing both ecological and social dimensions implicit in reestablishing ecosystem function. Through two sequential semesters of coursework (Landscape Restoration & Leadership in the fall and Restoration Cultures in the spring), and a summer spent engaged in restoration work, students gain rich academic and technical skills. FREC aims to train leaders and members for the emerging green work force, individuals who will be instrumental in navigating a world impacted by global warming and biodiversity loss through restoration.

For more information about the fellowship, please contact Amy Seidl or Cheryl Morse.
