2024 Summer Stewards at Carse

Three members of the 2023-2024 FREC cohort were given the opportunity to intern at Carse Wetlands the summer after finishing the fellowship in 2024. During their internship, the interns collected data for three sets of research plots set up by the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 cohorts (invasive honeysuckle shrub land experiment, woodland red maple transplant plots, fallow fields chokecherry transplant plots). In addition to monitoring existing experiments, they set up transects along the VELCO Right of Way and began collecting survey data on pollinator diversity following the Right of Way Tier 2 Scorecard. Throughout their internship, they also produced a species list of plants and animals they encountered at Carse.
The 2024 summer interns were Kaylee Baker, Emily Hakansson, and Cil Relland.
